The Tangimoana Boating Club Inc. is located in a small isolated community of approximately 300 people on the south bank of the Rangitikei River mouth. There is a small shop in the town and the nearest larger town is Bulls which is approximately 20 Kms away. The club provides a range of services for its members and the community, including the provision of a community boat launching facility and access road that is provided to our members and the community at large free of charge. The launching ramp which is only a short drive away is used by club members and visitors alike. There are ongoing discussions about improvements to the ramp, so watch this space. There is also the possibility of a webcam being placed at the ramp which will be a great addition, and something to look at if planning a trip fishing.
The club also provides a marine radio VHF repeater service and monitoring of the channel not only for our own members, but for the many other boaties that are fishing in our area. The radio repeater system is essential for maritime rescue co-ordination with Foxton the closest Coastguard over 20 minutes away, the club provides our own team of on call volunteers willing to act as the local first call rescue service for our area to work in conjunction with the Coastguard. The Search and Rescue function is another important club room use where we provide radio and office facilities in times of emergency.
The clubrooms located on Domain parade are mainly used by our members and visiting fishermen and boaties.
The boating club is the largest entity in the area and hence the only entity capable of hosting a variety of community events such as birthdays, funeral events, and weddings. In all the club rooms are a community focal point with the ability to host low cost community functions and catering at short notice.
The boating club is a long term sponsor of the Tangimoana School and supporter of local community, private and public events.
